Schema Registry & Ecosystem Discovery

Switzerland’s national interoperability platform for credential schemas and ecosystem discovery

Schema Registry & Ecosystem Discovery

Switzerland’s national interoperability platform i14y is the natural home for a shared credential schema registry – where issuers, verifiers, and ecosystem participants discover, reference, and build on authoritative data definitions. DIDAS is actively working to grow this catalog beyond the first published entry and federate it toward a full open ecosystem discovery layer for verifiable credentials.

i14y – Switzerland’s Interoperability Platform

🇨🇭 Swiss ConfederationOperated by the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (FSO/BFS) · www.i14y.admin.ch

i14y is Switzerland’s national catalog for standardised data structures, APIs, codelists, and public services. It ensures efficient, authoritative data exchange between authorities, companies, and citizens – and is now the reference point for Verifiable Credential schemas in the Swiss digital trust ecosystem.

Published credential schemas (VCT – Verifiable Credential Types)

Beta-ID  urn:vct:ch.admin.bcs.betaid

The Beta-ID is the first Verifiable Credential Type published on i14y. It contains the same data fields as the future national e-ID – given name, family name, birth date, age flags, portrait, personal number – enabling verifiers to integrate, test, and develop use cases now, ahead of the official e-ID launch. It is the reference anchor credential for all AN3 cross-sector credential development.

DIDAS Vision: i14y as the Swiss Credential Schema Repository

The Beta-ID sets the precedent. DIDAS and its Sector Councils are working to publish additional Verifiable Credential Types on i14y – Customer Credentials, Employee Credentials, Insurance Cards, eGov Authorisations, and more – building a canonical, discoverable catalog of credential schemas for the Swiss ecosystem.

The longer-term goal is federation: a multi-stakeholder, open discovery catalog where any issuer or verifier can find authoritative schemas, understand their governance context, and accelerate integration – connecting i14y with private-sector schema contributions from DIDAS Launchpad participants.
